MICROFIBER CLEANING CLOTHS, MOPS & CLEANING SYSTEMS

Yesterday, my Mom and I were at a Zellers Store in my home town, Canada, and we had the chance to see a demonstration of this remarkable new green cleaning tool that is right now being introduced in stores all across Canada & US. The very charming and  informative demonstrator guy showed a smallish group of mid day shoppers just how the new microfiber cleaning cloths could clean up a variety of traditionally hard to remove stuff such as hair goop, toothpaste, crayon & shoe scuff. He just sprayed pure water on a greasy goopy mirror and then PRESTO; the whole thick mess was gone with two swipes of his  blue cloth. It really is pretty amazing how all of these greasy, waxy products were picked up with no scubbing, no household cleaners of any kind. Just water, which demo guy actually sprayed into his mouth to prove to the audience that it really was just water in there.

The microfiber fabric that this company has patented, accomplishes this small miracle by the special star shaped fibers that are densely woven into the cloth on both sides. I would love to see it actually working under a microscope to see what the heck those little star fibers DO to remove the dirt.  Alas, it was not a science symposium, just Zellers, so no such view was afforded. What we did get to see up close was that this fabric cleans surfaces of all kinds, including linoleum, tile, stone, hardwood, glass, mirrors, camera and eyeglass lenses & everything else.

No effort is required to clean with this system. We all got to take a turn at getting the crayon cleaned up from the various floor samples using only the slightly dampened microfiber floor mop. I could not believe it! I purposely applied ZERO pressure on the mop when I took my turn and even so, the crayon scribble was gone in just two swipes of the mop!

The main thrust of the demo guys appeal was the green angle. He repeatedly emphasized how toxic these regular cleaners were. He had a few bottles on the floor next to him, one a sick purple colour and the other a poisonous green. He pointed out the use of the words Fresh Scent on the front of the label and then the warning on the back of the same product saying CAUTION! Do NOT Inhale. Everybody got a kick out of that, and yet I wondered if the other members of the audience had several such bottles of toxic cleaners in their homes.
Demo guy asked " How did we ever get to this point, using awful chemicals in our homes?"
I answered "Does anyone remember that old slogan from the fifties BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMICALS"

It was one of the big chemical company's slogan. It's not hard to see the irony in this.
Well, we can now enjoy
BETTER LIVING WITHOUT CHEMICALS; there is no law that says we have to just keep on buying these toxic
products. Manufactured cleaning products are not needed anymore and not wanted. They are expensive, wasteful, unpleasant and unnecessary.
In 2009, we can clean our homes safely, easily and naturally using todays' modern, innovative cleaning tools.

TIPS for Cleaning with Microfiber cloths & Mops

For dry mopping the mop pad is cleaned just by shaking it out vigorously, preferably outside.

For wet mopping walls & floors, you will need to wet the mopping pad with a smalll amount of water and wrung out.

To Use Microfiber cloths to Disinfect just add one part vinegar to 4 parts water.

HOW TO WASH MICROFIBER CLOTHS & MOP PADS
After each use, you can just rinse the cloth or pad under hot or warm water and wring it out until the water runs cleans when you wring it.
When they become heavily soiled, the cloths & mop pads can be thrown into the washing machine ( normally after several uses). It is very important that the microfiber cloth is not exposed to bleach, fabric softener or any other harsh laundry products. These chemicals will damage all those neat little star shaped fibers. Another important DO NOT DO is to wash the cloths or pads with anyk terry cloth towels or wash cloths or any other fabric that sheds alot of lint. It is recommended that you wash micofiber fabric either on it's own or with jeans.
When clean, the cloths can be air dried or tossed into your dryer.
